MEDICAL MASSAGE
Neuromuscular therapy, or medical massage, is offered at
our office. The benefits of massage for our patients are
numerous. Relief of tight muscles and trigger points are
the therapists specialty. Improved circulation, better
lymph drainage and dislodging of toxins are also benefits.
When coupled with Advanced Biostructural Correction adjustments,
patients get superb care for their body.
Medical massage is especially helpful right after a new injury
but is enjoyed by all of our patients at any time during their
care plan.
Medical massage is not a typical spa massage. Though you can
have our therapist give you a massage using Swedish strokes,
our treatment is geared towards relaxing tight muscle bundles,
relieving adhesions due to trauma and removing trigger points
that can refer pain into other body parts. Swedish massage
strokes are typical of spas and are more geared for a "fluff
and buff" experience.
HOT ROCKS
Our therapists use
hot rocks as part of their
neuromuscular therapy protocol. Cheryl, our lead therapist, says that“hydrostone therapy (or hot stone
massage) is useful for conditions that
involve inflammation, muscle spasms
and contracted muscles that are tight
and/or tender. As the recipient of
this type of massage, you will experience a deeper relaxation, increased
relief and pliability of stressed muscles and improved detoxification.”

The type of stones used are known
as Basalt river stones. The stones can be black, red, grey,
purple or green in color. They have been tumbled smooth by
river beds by nature. Hot stone massage used as a therapeutic
aid can be used by anyone as long as they
do not have heart disease or cardiovascular problems, peripheral
vascular disease, severe diabetes, acute or chronic asthma
or pregnancy (but can be used in isolated problem areas.)
Patients who have received their
massage with the stones would tell you that the deep
heat helps those tight muscle bundles to relax more easily
without the
need for as much finger pressure
from the therapist.
But if you are one of those patients who likes a lot of pressure,
none of our therapists are afraid to give it to you.
